The correct image sizes and formats for Facebook

Without a doubt, Facebook is still one of the social media world’s big players. With a total of 2.91 billion active users every month (as of the third quarter of 2021), the platform is still going strong and growing in users. The correct image sizes and formats for Instagram

One thing’s for sure: There’s no other social network where images are as important as on Instagram. Having said that, the platform has grown beyond a mere photo-sharing app. Live streams, reels, stories and IGTV are favoured by the Instagram algorithm. The platform is all about creativity and high-quality content – in the correct sizes, of course:

  • Profile photo: 110 x 110 px
  • Feed post photo:
    • landscape 1,080 x 608 px (16:9)
    • square 1,080 x 1,080 px (1:1)
    • portrait 1,080 x 1,350 px (4:5)
  • Feed post video: 1,080 x 1,350 px (4:5)
  • Instagram Stories: 1,080 x 1,920 px (9:16)
  • Instagram Live & Reels: 1,080 x 1,920 px (9:16)

Don’t forget: Instagram Reels are displayed in 9:16 but it’s important that nothing gets cut off in 4:5 because that’s how videos are displayed in your feed. You can also add a video preview, which is displayed on the reel tab in 9:16.
